After a late breakfast in the hotel at about 9:30 we went back to bed to accumulate as much sleep as possible for the BIG day. Three hours of additional rest did make a difference, however the vibrations from the incredibly loud bass music coming from the many DJ systems set up in the streets as well as the passing boats with DJ’s and bands made it difficult to actually sleep. The windows in the hotel room rattled as the boats passed in the canal outside the hotel.
Tim and I went down to Leidse Plein yet again for a few drinks and something to eat. We contacted Dave and he was on his way from Utrecht.
As soon as he arrived we went to meet Paul and Kien, friends of Jeremy & Nicole Carew-Reid in Brisbane. Paul went to university with Paul. It was good to have a drink and a chat with people who lived in Amsterdam for some eighteen years. Interesting to hear how they live and stories about common friends.
My only disappointment for the day was not having an audience with the Queen knowing we have something in common. I think she was wise and left Amsterdam for the day. Many people do apparently.

I note (possibly for the benefit of Karen!!) that there are no night time shots! I trust all is well and hope you have a great time in Italy.
